Elegant Open Kitchen/Living Space
This project started with our client asking us to come into their spacious home to bring in some warmth to the large areas that needed some more character. In the living room, foyer, and balcony areas we added trim work to the walls, redesigned the built-ins by the fireplace, added box beams to the ceiling, and incorporated more lighting. We then added new color which gave all of the wood work more pop.
Kitchen & Hearth Room:
Our client wanted to turn this area into a more functional space for entertaining larger family gatherings. We removed the old kitchen island and custom designed a large 6’ x 10’ island that is functional on all four sides. The raised area in the center has fully functional drawers for additional storage with a custom-made wood top to add to the warmth of the room. The existing vent-a-hood cabinetry was painted and glazed to break up the stained kitchen cabinets and give the space more character and interest. The furniture piece island was also painted and glazed to match the vent-a-hood and also received a custom-made wood top to continue the theme of warm and natural materials.
The existing fireplace in the hearth room was wrapped in cedar planks and stained along with the existing limestone fireplace to give them both a more aged look. The built-ins on ether side of the fireplace had more woodwork and color added to them for more warmth. The 12’ long dining table was custom built using pine timber for the legs and base and wood from an old vinegar vat to create the custom table top. The screened-in porch, which was to the left of the hearth room, was turned into heated area and opened using cedar beams for a cozy fireplace nook to relax and have a more intimate space for close friends and family.
