Grand Kitchen & Dining Space
This kitchen was limited in serving space and closed off from the family room. Our client wanted a kitchen and family room design that was more focused on entertaining and family gathering. We started with opening the wall between the kitchen and family room to allow easy traffic flow so that conversations can carry through to both rooms.
We then created a design for the kitchen that included a large custom island that could seat up to six people. The challenge with this was creating an island that would serve various areas and not disrupt or cramp the breakfast area, while still leaving ample space around the island for mingling. We also ran gas to the cooking area for a new gas range top and installed a pocket door on the laundry room to make the space more functional. We added new custom-built cabinetry to the pantry area, which dramatically increased their storage capacity.
The cabinets chosen for this project are from Omega Cabinetry and include a mix of finishes. The island is a stained alder wood and the perimeter cabinets are a paint and glaze maple. The counter tops are granite and the tile backsplash is a subway travertine marble. The tile floor is Versailles pattern, chiseled-edge travertine marble. We added recessed can lighting throughout, pendant lighting for the island, and undercabinet lighting for the work area.
