Grand Kitchen & Dining Space
This kitchen was limited in serving space and closed off from the family room. The client wanted a kitchen and family room design that was more focused on entertaining and family gathering. So, we started with opening the wall between the kitchen and family room to allow easy traffic flow so that conversations could carry through to both rooms.
We then created a design for the kitchen that included a large custom island that could seat up to six people. We had to balance creating an island that would serve various areas without disrupting or cramping the breakfast area, while still leaving ample space around the island for mingling. We also ran gas to the cooking area for a new gas range top and installed a pocket door on the laundry room to make the space more functional. We added new custom-built cabinetry to the pantry area, which dramatically increased their storage capacity. Finally, we installed recessed can lighting throughout, pendant lighting for the island, and undercabinet lighting for the work area.
The cabinets are from Omega Cabinetry and include a mix of finishes. The island is a stained alder wood and the perimeter cabinets are a paint and glaze maple. The countertops are granite and the tile backsplash is a subway travertine marble. The tile floor is Versailles pattern made with chiseled-edge travertine marble.
